Do I have to use dechlorinated water?

Tap water in the US is treated using different types of chlorine. Some of this chlorine makes it into your tap water, which can harm beneficial microbes like the ones in our products. For best results, we recommend using dechlorinated water, which is water without chlorine.

Can I use tap water anyway?
Yes you can. Most of our microbes will live through a brief exposure to chlorine in tap water. If you plan on making a big batch and storing it, use dechlorinated water.

What types of water are dechlorinated?
Distilled water or rain water

How can I dechlorinated tap water?
Letting tap water sit for 24 hours allows most types of chlorine to evaporate from the water. Dechlorinators for hoses can be purchased online or in hardware stores. Vitamin C as ascorbic acid or sodium ascorbate can also dechlorinate tap water quickly.
